If you wish to learn a great deal about me, my work, and my perspectives on things, please read this interview that I gave with naturalhealthworld.ca

An overview is below:

My Approach to Medicine

I believe that healing is an inherently creative, participatory process. I have seen that many people feel frustrated and disempowered because they do not experience active involvement in their own healing journey.

To remedy this, I have crafted a blend of hands-on techniques, counselling, education, and exercises for self-care and self-discovery.  This innovative, integrated approach helps my clients to relieve their pain, cultivate their vitality, deepen their relationship with themselves, and ultimately to manifest their unique individual potential.

My Background

At age 9 I developed a serious inflammatory digestive disorder.  For many years I underwent consistent medication and periodic hospitalization to manage my health.

At age 19 I met Dr. Michael Smith, an acupuncturist and herbalist.  Within 2 months of starting to see him, I began to experience tremendous changes in my health and after 8 months I was able to stop using Western medicine.

Dr. Smith encouraged me to pursue acupuncture as a career and took me under his wing, teaching me his style of medicine as well as martial arts and philosophy.

My Education

I have 6 years of post-secondary education.  During my time in University, I studied such subjects as health psychology, addictions treatment, medical anthropology, First Nations healing practices, and Chinese language and history.

After this, I moved to Victoria for formal training at The Canadian College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, graduating in 2009.

During my education, I also completed training in Jin Shin Do® BodyMind AcupressureTM and took a variety of courses ranging from Thai Massage to Intuitive Chakra reading.

I continue to attend workshops and seminars to expand my abilities as a therapist.  My goal is that for any person who comes to see me with any problem, I will say, "I can help you with that".
